"Resolving Host" is making the new Microsoft Edge unusable.

Updated to new version of Edge a couple weeks ago and am looking for a way to 'downgrade' to the old version... or recommendations for a non-chromium based, secure browser.

Why?  Because the 'Resolving Host' delay that Edge is now performing on just about EVERY web page is driving me nuts.  Delays page loading by 2 - 10 seconds on EVERY PAGE.  How is that better?

I've tried clearing Edge's cache, Windows cache, changing dns to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 and to the two IP's specified by my ISP (in addition to relying on my router's handling of DNS), rebooting modem+router/PC.  Nothing has helped.

Any other suggestions?  Perhaps point me down a better path?

Thank you. I'm not running Malwarebytes but switching to Firefox has resolved the problem for now.

Yeah I'm still happy with Firefox too.  For something to do i disabled windows 10 indexing and will check if that had any positive impact on edge/chrome.

Anyone know how to do a traceroute from within edge/chrome to see the route my dns traffic is taking.

I've been having the same issue with Chrome and Edge.  If you are running Malwarebytes there is a setting that works for me.  Open Malwarebytes click on the settings (gear icon) - you'll be on general settings

    • under Windows Explorer Settings - "Add Malwarebytes option to windows explore" toggle the slider to off then restart your computer.  Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip.  I tried that and didn't see any improvement.  I wonder why that setting has any effect if you are not actively doing a manual scan.  I've even tried to completely disable avast and malware bytes and it didn't help

    Try turning off Delivery Optimization.

I was having the same issues with the chromium browsers resolving.

When I disabled Delivery Optimization, My Chromium browsers - Edge & Chrome, came back to life.

Turned delivery optimization back on - rebooted and the resolving issue came back.

Turned it back off - rebooted - Browsers run great.

Worth a try - Hope it works for you

Thanks for the tip.  My delivery optimization was not on

I resolved my problem by disabling SmartScreen for Microsoft Edge.

Open the Windows Security panel go to App & browser control and disable SmartScreen for Microsoft Edge

Now Edge opens sites significantly faster. It was driving me mad too.

Thanks for the tip,  I tried that and had no luck with it and personally wouldn't like that as a solution
