"Resolving Host" is making the new Microsoft Edge unusable.

Updated to new version of Edge a couple weeks ago and am looking for a way to 'downgrade' to the old version... or recommendations for a non-chromium based, secure browser.

Why?  Because the 'Resolving Host' delay that Edge is now performing on just about EVERY web page is driving me nuts.  Delays page loading by 2 - 10 seconds on EVERY PAGE.  How is that better?

I've tried clearing Edge's cache, Windows cache, changing dns to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 and to the two IP's specified by my ISP (in addition to relying on my router's handling of DNS), rebooting modem+router/PC.  Nothing has helped.  

Any other suggestions?  Perhaps point me down a better path?

    I just read another article and it said to go to the Network Settings and untick TCP/IPv6 (either wireless or Ethernet) in the adapter settings.   I've just done this and rebooted my PC and it's working.   Obviously, need to check over time, but for now it's solved the issue.

    I've been having the same issue with Chrome and Edge.  If you are running Malwarebytes there is a setting that works for me.  Open Malwarebytes click on the settings (gear icon) - you'll be on general settings - under Windows Explorer Settings - "Add Malwarebytes option to windows explore" toggle the slider to off then restart your computer.  Hope this helps.

    Just tried this and it solved the problem immediately..............................................Hope it Lasts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Tried this two days ago and 'Resolving Host' seems to have disappeared

    Thank you. I'm not running Malwarebytes but switching to Firefox has resolved the problem for now.

    Yeah I'm still happy with Firefox too.  For something to do i disabled windows 10 indexing and will check if that had any positive impact on edge/chrome. 

    Anyone know how to do a traceroute from within edge/chrome to see the route my dns traffic is taking.

    I was having this issue and managed to resolve it by changing the DNS settings on my router to use OpenDNS instead of the Vodafone ones. It solved the problem on my PC and all my other devices sped up too.

    Firefox may be solving this issue by using DNS over HTTPS but I’m not sure if that is enabled by default.

    Obviously the downside of this is that you lose the ISP adult site blocking but you can get that with OpenDNS if you want.
