WHY am I being FORCED to deal with Microsoft edge?

I agree. One sunny afternoon, I turned on my laptop only to find the screen hogged by the new Edge update. I had to wait until it was finished setting up before I could continue to Chrome, never to use Edge again. If Microsoft wants its users to use Edge, forcing it is not the way to do it.

It's called updating their own software, without which certain functions won't even run, messing up your pc/laptop. It's not forcing, you're free to use chrome. If updating software is called forcing then idk what kind of...

I see that you suffer from selective reading, ignoring what you do not wish to acknowledge.

1. Microsoft may have decided to own Windows - selling us a license, (leaving us to learn Linux software or Expensive Apple OS or else live with it),

BUT !!! they are still updating on OUR COMPUTERS, OUR HARDWARE, Using OUR TIME.

Taking up OUR Valuable TIME to update or ADD a BROWSER is thief of our time and computer resources. I had a smaller 32bit Asus that is trash because of forced updates that were too much resource heavy for that little 2 in 1.

I have Bing forced on my Phone as a search default, it is not as good as my other choice. Yet I HAVE TO waste my TIME because Big Corporations have money interest in Products I use.

I do not know if you work for Microsoft or just dream of it but I assure you I would go back to Dos6/Win 3.2 in a heartbeat, [well maybe XP because of the home networking] just to have ownership of the things I pay for (No ,I would never lease a vehicle).

2. Microsoft tried install 'Games' with Explorer in the Past, was Sued for those misdeeds, and is trying it again because someone thinks "inhouse" can be controlled better. They still forget the fact that HUMANS are the Users, who do not want BIG Corporation Ideas shoved down their throats. Just as I can not Demand Justice from a Judge, Microsoft needs to Request the USER'S Time and Hardware resources.

 The analogy is buying a Vehicle while leasing the Engine with the tech to monitor real time use,  WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD WANT THAT KIND OF OVERSITE ?

• Yes, many people mess around with their O/S by editing registry or installing **** software and 9 times out of 10 it causes issues.
• Yes, a browser is part of the O/S and should not be removed. Apple has Safari and Google has Chrome because one needs to have at least one browser that can't be uninstalled in an O/S. After all if there was no browser how would you download your favorite browser? Riddle me that one . . .

Point 1 there is irrelevant, as clearly the issues mentioned here are part of ordinary installations which people have been encountering and so any presence or absence of editting of the registry is irrelevant.

Point 2 is false. Yeah it's far harder to download your favourite browser without a browser, but you could get the file installed by a CD or memory stick from another computer, or write your own browser. A browser is not an intrinsic part of an O/S even if it's highly unadvisable to try and go without one.

No, I had to do something similar as well;  ctrl+alt+delete and then signed out rather than using the task manager. 

And Richard seems to be missing a huge chunk of my point, either purposely or otherwise. Just because there are people out there who are perfectly okay and compliant with these tactics does not mean it's okay. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT the "vast majority" of users are perfectly fine turning on their machines to see changes made without their consent. I'm SURE those users who already used Edge were fine with an update, however that's not the issue here and framing the situation that way is dishonest. On your own forums there are how many topics started asking how to reverse this update? 

Well, the vast majority are very happy With their Windows 10 Machines. Maybe they don't get as upset because they read the License that Microso grants-you know the one everyone has to agree too, the one if read fully gives them the right to change their software, methods of delivery, etc. People who post on this and all the other forums are only a small percentage-probably less than 15%- of all the hundreds of Millions of uses in the world. You don't like the new edge get back legacy and run them side by side. Use Firefox, or even Chrome.
