Profile picture in new Microsoft Edge won't update

The followings work for me:

1. Go to C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default
2. Create a image file with your profile picture, name it a "Edge Profile Picture.png" if it doesn't exist. 

YOU'RE THE BEST! Thank you SO much! This solved the problem.

Some "explain like I'm 5" help for anyone who needs:

• Don't forget to replace <username> when browsing in File Finder
• Save your image as a PNG. (That's how mine worked anyway. Wasn't successful when I tried saving my new photo in its original property—a bitmap image—it just changed into a red dot.)
• Replace the file if it already exists

For reference, the original browser photo dimensions were 424x424px. Remove aspect ratio on your editing program if required so you can get these dimensions. Adjust your photo as needed—be mindful of the content that breaches outside of a circle.

This one actually worked for me, but with an additional fix. Simply renaming a particular JPG photo as Edge Profile Photo.png will result in a corrupted picture on the upper right of the Microsoft Edge Chromium browser. So what I did was to use Snipping Tool to snip (original size) at the existing JPG photo, then SAVE it as a legitimate Edge Profile Photo.PNG on C:\Users&lt;username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Profile 1. Of course, you need to DELETE FIRST THE ORIGINAL Edge Profile Photo.PNG you are trying to replace so that there is only ONE Edge Profile Photo.PNG at C:\Users&lt;username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Profile 1. Hope this helps.

I  had the same problem and discovered that I was signing in with a LOCAL account and not my MICROSOFT Account.   I signed out  of edge and then signed clicked to sign back in. It prompted me for  which account I wanted to sign n with. Choose Microsoft ACCOUNT

EDGE ACCOUTN AND MICROSOT ACCOUNT AREAPPRENTLY NOT THE SAME 

AND THEN SYNC

After submitting a ticket and spending over 20 minutes going back and forth with a windows technical support representative, I was left with "Alex just wait 48 hrs and it will update." Now, after 5 days, I was still seeing the annoying picture up in the right corner of Edge. It wasn't anywhere else! It was only present in Edge. Who'd have thought I needed to go through such pathing just to delete the buried picture within my C: drive.

Thank you Rio for the fix. I signed out of my account via my laptop (as the main sign-in, went to local), deleted the account out of account settings, signed out of Edge, created the Profile 2 as you suggested, and finally a fix.

This solved my issue too ! Took hardly 5 seconds. But this should be addressed by Microsoft soon.
