Profile picture in new Microsoft Edge won't update

The new Microsoft Edge won't update my profile picture; it is still using an old one.

Steps that I have taken:

1.  I have updated the picture twice online in my Microsoft account.

2.  I have deleted the old picture from both of my Windows 10 systems.

3.  I have deleted my Edge profile several times.

4.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Edge.

Nothing that I have done seems to help. Would like to know if this is a bug or something else is going on.

When you change your profile, it will take 24 hours for it to take effect.

This is a possible solution I recently found. I had the same issue, I updated the picture on my account online just like the instructions directed, however my windows login image and the image in the top right corner of my web browser still showed my previous picture. Try this:

1. Start Button > Settings > Accounts.
2. In the Left Menu make sure Your Info is selected.
3. In the center part of the window you probably see your profile picture. At the bottom you see "Create your picture" with the options of Camera or Browse for one.
4. Use one of those options to select a new picture.

Once you accept the change it should reflect in both your login profile picture and also the top right corner of your web browser.

I hope this works for you!

The followings work for me:

1. Go to C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default
2. Create a image file with your profile picture, name it a "Edge Profile Picture.png" if it doesn't exist. 

YOU'RE THE BEST! Thank you SO much! This solved the problem.

Some "explain like I'm 5" help for anyone who needs:

• Don't forget to replace <username> when browsing in File Finder
• Save your image as a PNG. (That's how mine worked anyway. Wasn't successful when I tried saving my new photo in its original property—a bitmap image—it just changed into a red dot.)
• Replace the file if it already exists

For reference, the original browser photo dimensions were 424x424px. Remove aspect ratio on your editing program if required so you can get these dimensions. Adjust your photo as needed—be mindful of the content that breaches outside of a circle.

I thought I'd found my solution, since nothing else worked.  I did just as suggested and the image in the folder is the one I want (and which is associated with my MS account). I deleted the cache and restarted Edge.  Same old picture. Oh, well. 

UPDATE: Fixed.  I had to stop all Edge processes and sign off then restart... all's good.

As I mentioned in my first response, this method worked great on the first system I tried.

However on the second system I tried, the path "C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data" didn't have a "Default" folder.

Not sure if the data in there would be saved to a different path?

But once I had the first system changed with the manual method, the second system updated after a sign-out/sign-in with the image from my Microsoft account.

And thereafter the first system then updated to the image from the Microsoft account also.
