How to make links open in a new tab in Edge Chromium

Unfortunately Tab to Tab extension is ignored for links selected from the edge menu bar.

It's annoying having to use a special key combination or right-click menu choice for something we want 99.9% of the time. I sent feedback to the Edge developer team requesting an option to make left click open in a new tab by default and let Ctrl-Left click open in the active tab instead. I suggest others do the same using the Send feedback button on the toolbar.

I feel the same way.  For someone who claims: "I am a seasoned Windows expert with almost a decade in usage and support experience and hope to resolve your problems quickly", that is an empty response.  Either tell us how to fix it or admit you don't know how to.  My suspicion is it's somehow related to a security feature of Edge, but that's just a guess on my part.  Why else wouldn't they want to offer the same feature Firefox has and keep stonewalling?  I too, would have considered switching to Microsoft Edge, but this is a deal breaker for me.  Plain and simple:  Why else would you click a link "open in new tab", unless you meant to immediately go to it?  Oh, I get it...two clicks is better than one!  (sarcasm)

All other browsers have that feature.

We need to save time and clicks.

the business I'm in, I have to use Edge (in lieu of Internet Explorer as the vendors I associate with have their programs preferring Internet Explorer over Firefox or Chrome.  Some of the vendors started doing more Google Chrome updates, so i do go back and forth to Chrome and Edge, but none have programs that are compatible with Firefox.  They need secure programs, and I need them to work, so I go where their program works best,  However, I have retrained myself - I don't have time to wonder if Edge can fix something as time saving as a default setting of opening a clicked link into a new tab automatically.  I suppose if they ever figure that out, they'll send out some kind of update with a notice that lets us know they fixed this feature finally.  You all have a good week.
