Troubleshooting browser crashes or performance issues on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
My Microsoft Edge browser keeps freezing up. I have tried all the suggested solutions with no success. I like the design and functionality offered by Edge, but will change to Firefox until I get a notice that Microsoft has fixed the problem with Edge freeze ups.

I def.s have the latest version. Also uninstalled and reinstalled - made no difference.
Hi DavidLuong1,
To manually check for updates, follow these steps below.
It will either say Microsoft Edge is up to date, or it will start downloading the new update if it's available.

I would like for you to reset your settings and see if that makes a difference. This will reset your startup page, new tab page, search engine, and pinned tabs. It will also disable all extensions and clear temporary data like cookies. Your favorites, history, and saved passwords will not be cleared. Make sure you reconfigure your On startup setting after the reset.

Hi folks,
The fix for this freezing issue is in version 88.0.705.53, so please check that you've got the latest update at edge://settings/help and manually update from there if required! If you're still seeing this issue after the update, please let me know ASAP and I'll pass the info on to the team to investigate further.
Thanks, and I hope this gets you back up and running! =)
Hi Alex,
I've updated Edge to version 88.0.705.56 and the freezing issue persists but behaves a little differently. Before the update, Edge froze, quit, froze, quit all randomly at any time and on any websites for as long as Edge remained open. After the update, freeze-up kicks in within 2 minutes of starting the browser, goes on for about 3 minutes, comes out of the freeze, instantly freezes again, hangs for a little longer than previous, returns to normal, immediately repeats the freeze for the third time for about as long as the second instance, comes back to normal and does not freeze up any longer for hours. The same pattern of freezing occurs the next day when Edge is started.
