My Microsoft Edge browser keeps freezing up. I have tried all the suggested solutions with no success. I like the design and functionality offered by Edge, but will change to Firefox until I get a notice that Microsoft has fixed the problem with Edge freeze ups.

I have the same issue with the following scenarios:

    1. Whenever the "Coupon" extension (I think it was called Honey) would drop down if I clicked on it in anyway it would freeze the browser for up to 3 minutes. I uninstalled the extension and under extensions it shows I have no extensions installed now, but the extension is still there.
    2. The pattern here is not as precise, but seems to hold in about 90% of the cases. Whenever I go to a site (typically a secure site such as my bank) and attempt to change a password Edge freezes up for just shy of 3 minutes. The current tab stays highlighted, but the rest of the tabs are just one continuous block of white.

The combination of these two things has caused me to download two competing browsers that I will have to use as this behavior is just not acceptable.

    Steps taken to remedy:

    Cleared Cookies and Cache.

    Reset Browser

    Restarted Browser

    Restarted Computer

Speculation on what might be happening:

I think the browser, or sites are trying to get my location, as I no longer ever see a prompt for allowing or denying access to my location. It is a desktop computer, roughly 4yrs old. It is wired to the modem via Ethernet.

    Browser version is 89.0.774.54

    Hi JeffKirkham_869,

You might be seeing Microsoft Edge built-in coupon finder if you don't see Honey on the extensions page.

Since you already cleared cookies and cache and reset the browser, I would like you to submit feedback about this for engineers to investigate.

    1. Click on the three dots menu button.
    2. Go to Help and feedback and then click on Send feedback.
    3. Fill out request information.
    4. Once completed, click on the Send button.

    Eric

I faced this issue too.  At random times, the browser freezes and the entire computer runs at 1% speed.  It seems to happen when Edge is trying to open a new window.  The mouse pointer sometimes works but is mostly unresponsive.  Even if you use maximum patience and end Edge with task manager, the computer still runs exceedingly slow and is utterly unusable.

Yesterday when it happened, I tried to open Chrome but the Chrome window would just flash on and off as if the new window keeps opening and closing in rapid succession.

The only way to return to normal is to press the power button until the laptop turns off and then restart.

This is very disappointing because I started using Edge specifically to get away from Chrome and its annoying "aw snap" errors.
