Troubleshooting browser crashes or performance issues on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
My Microsoft Edge browser keeps freezing up. I have tried all the suggested solutions with no success. I like the design and functionality offered by Edge, but will change to Firefox until I get a notice that Microsoft has fixed the problem with Edge freeze ups.

The sort of behaviour you're seeing can often be attributed to outside influences. A common reason for the browser to stop responding is interference from third-party security/anti-virus software. Do either of you have any such running? Which? To test whether third-party software is affecting browser performance, it has to be uninstalled completely, not just disabled.
Another possible cause - especially if the problem arises when accessing websites - is using DNS-over-HTTPS, which is not yet completely reliable. If this is enabled on the affected machines, try turning it off it to see whether there's any improvement:
click ⋯ (Settings and more) > Settings > Privacy, search and services and scroll down to Use secure DNS to specify how to lookup the network address for websites in the Security section.
I am doing the opposite. Edge is now freezing when I attempt to manage favorites and at other times. I have sent Microsoft a memory dump and all other data, but I simply cannot continue using a browser that locks up twice an hour. I have download Chrome and will begin converting favorites, history, passwords, addresses and CC info tomorrow.. Curious, why are you leaving Chrome? Is there an issue I should know about before I make the switch? Perhaps another browser would be better. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles, I just need a browser that does it's core job without issues.
I faced this issue too. At random times, the browser freezes and the entire computer runs at 1% speed. It seems to happen when Edge is trying to open a new window. The mouse pointer sometimes works but is mostly unresponsive. Even if you use maximum patience and end Edge with task manager, the computer still runs exceedingly slow and is utterly unusable.
Yesterday when it happened, I tried to open Chrome but the Chrome window would just flash on and off as if the new window keeps opening and closing in rapid succession.
The only way to return to normal is to press the power button until the laptop turns off and then restart.
This is very disappointing because I started using Edge specifically to get away from Chrome and its annoying "aw snap" errors.
Does anyone know...is Microsoft taking any action to fix this problem with Edge??
Hi JeffKirkham_869,
You might be seeing Microsoft Edge built-in coupon finder if you don't see Honey on the extensions page.
Since you already cleared cookies and cache and reset the browser, I would like you to submit feedback about this for engineers to investigate.
