Edge and Chrome freezes while browsing making Windows not responsive for 1 minute follow by Windows explorer behave strangely

As title says, my Windows behave strangely every now and then. When browsing, it may freeze for a minute or so follow by making I can't open everything. If I'm lucky enough, this issue last for 2 hours, if not, I need to restart the PC. Photo below tells it all.

    I have the same issue after update 21 Jan 2021 for both chrome and edge chromium, I think it might be an update issue so if you can release anew update soon, I will go back to chromium again, I'm now on MS Edge legacy and it's annoying. So please fix this freezing error as fast as you can!

    Now am using Firefox, way more stable. My PC do hang and crash, but now the frequency are 1 week once comparing to last time Edge and Chrome 3-4  times a day.

    I have the same problem. Restart Windows helps for a few moments but then the freeze occurs again.

    I have the same issue. Must be the update done to the windows operating system. Perhaps kb4592438 updated 2020-12 or kb4598242 updated 2021-01? Hopefully it will be fixed soon.  They deal with the adobe flash player end of life December 31, 2020. 

    i installed FIREFOX, as another suggested, and it worked; whereas EDGE and CHROME hung everthing.

    I, too, have been having the same problem with Edge for the past week.  It freezes for about a minute and then reloads.  Very annoying.  I am currently using Opera without an issue.

    I have:

    • Run antivirus/anti-malware
    • Cleared Cache
    • Created a new profile
    • Run sfc /scannow
    • Run DISM.exe with all the different options
    • Reinstalled Windows from ISO

    As others are having the same issue, it is clearly a recent update causing the problem and needs to be addressed.

    I found the solution on YOUTUBE after being on a chat for two hours with microsoft.  TURN OFF HARDWARE Acceleration on EDGE and CHROME
