remove Bing from microsoft edge

My question is very simple that is HOW DO I REMOVE BING AS SEARCH ENGINE FROM MICROSOFT EDGE.

Please, please and please give me a simple  and direct answer or solution and not by "beating around the bush"

I am getting very fed up with Bing appearing as my search engine. I never as for it but how come Bing came in as my search engine. There are thousands if not millions that HATE Bing. Why is it still there, JUST REMOVE IT OUT FROM THE WEB or whatever permanently.

PLEAE HELP ME TO REMOVE BING IN A VERY SIMPLIFIED  STEPS!

Assuming you're using the Chromium-based Edge, open Edge settings [click ⋯ (Settings and more) > Settings], then choose Privacy, search and services > Address bar and search > Manage search engines. You should see Google as an option. Click the ellipsis (three dots) at the right end of the entry and choose Make default.

    I would rather never use Cortana and manually open Chrome for everything I need than get hacked. 

    If you set Edge to use a different search provider and you never use Cortana, you shouldn't ever see Bing unless you specifically ask for it. No need for Chrome.

    Cortana isn't Edge - it's a different app altogether, and it always uses Bing to conduct web searches. You can only change this by installing extra third-party software. 

    Yes, Cortana and Edge are different. I understand. I'm still having the issue in both, but thanks for that. I should have gotten a Chromebook, I guess because I absolutely loathe Bing and don't understand why we are forced to use it without installing a Google extension. I was about to install a chrome extension (Chromana I think it's called?) when I read an apology by the extension creator saying that the extension led to a lot of people getting hacked. I would rather never use Cortana and manually open Chrome for everything I need than get hacked.

    Both what you write and your screenshot show that you're not using this version, but rather the original Edge, now known as Edge Legacy. The two browsers are quite different, and instructions for the one are unlikely to work for the other.

    In your case, click Learnmore and follow the instructions to add more search providers.

    Thank you! I just got a brand new laptop yesterday, so it seems weird that it's using Legacy but I'll take your word for it. Also, my fix above didn't work... so... glad to have your reply. However, I went to Learnmore, and it's the same as the updated post I have above (where I thought I found the fix) so that also didn't work. When I type in "weather" in cortana, it STILL opens Bing.
