enable warning before closing multiple tabs

When I close the new Edge, there's no warning if I have multiple tabs open.  Has anyone else found a way to enable that?  I get a warning in IE, and there was a warning in the previous Edge.

I've got 89.0.774.48 and that option isn't there!

I have the same version as you do and that option is the first one on the list. Perhaps you didn't follow ¡Firedog's instructions? Here's a similar way to do it. Open a new Tab and paste this into the address bar:

    edge://flags/

Now you'll see Ask Before Closing Multiple Tabs as the FIRST option. Click on the Default box and from the drop down menu click on Enabled. A Restart button will appear at the bottom right. Click on it and Edge will restart and return to where you were. Now go to Settings and click on Appearance where you'll see the NEW option on the right Ask before closing multiple tabs. Enable it and Voilà.

    Hope that helps you.

Wow! Thanks so much. Worked a treat.

Thanks so much for leading me via a "dummy's guide". I hadn't realised you needed to use the "default" button

    Works great, thanks.

Why would MS remove this option? Do they want us to start using other browsers?

Seams to be a common issue with them, they keep removing options that are useful.

I believe that removing options is intentional in order to save code. Less code, smaller files. If nobody objects, then less code to worry about but if there's an uprising, then they'll put the option back but in the meantime we suffer and waste time finding workarounds.

Now the option is back but not completely though. Notice here that this time around the option "Ask before closing multiple tabs" doesn't offer the choice to "Close current tab" which is usually the one you need because you distractingly clicked on the wrong X to close the current Tab. So now, it's a 3-click job instead of a 2-click effort and some code was saved. You got to pay for being distracted and maybe you'll learn to click on the correct X next time :)

Anyway, that's my take on it and a bit of venting doesn't hurt as long as it's polite.

That certainly happens in some cases, but not this one. This version of Edge was built from the ground up on the Chromium base, and it was launched almost two years ago with most of the functions we were used to. Since that time, Insiders have been submitting feedback to the development team, and it's in many cases the result of this feedback that the team decide to implement specific features that were lacking. Nothing was 'removed,' because there was nothing there to start with.

The team are still very keen to receive feedback about the way the browser functions in the real world, because they can only act on what they know about. The more feedback they receive about a particular item, the higher up the priority list it gets. Please make your views known using the browser's feedback option; press Alt-Shift-i to open the dialogue.
