PDF Table of Contents

Whenever I needed to view a pdf I always used Edge because it has a table of contents in the sidebar, but now that I'm using the new Edge, it no longer seems to have that, I was just wondering if this is a feature that hasn't been integrated yet, or if there's an alternate way of getting it back.

The table of contents feature is now available in the Stable release Edge 86 released October 9th.

    This is terrible. They really need to bring the TOC feature back. Reading long pdfs is terrible without it.

    Kindly inform the Microsoft team that we need the Table of contents feature back to Edge, It's really tough navigating long pdf documents

    Hi Inomaker,

    I’m Rey, your Windows 10 Advisor.

    I understand you are having trouble launching your pdf on Edge yet after the new update, you can no longer relaunch it using the same as before.

    There are instances that it's not going to launch on Edge, but you just need to edit this. What you need to do is to set this.

    To do this, click your start button, and type default programs.

    Now scroll below and select "Default apps by file type".

    You'll get several of the options, scroll until you'll see .pdf and on the right change the correct app that's being used to EDGE.

    This will enable the pdf files to load using Edge.

    I believe that these steps will help you solve this issue you have. If not, kindly contact me and let me know.

    What Inomaker asked was a plain simple question about a real problem with your new Microsoft Egde which I also have. I dunno if you "Microsoft people" are genuinly that stupid or if you just try to redirect and reinterpret the question a user asks and answer something completely off-point every time; but either way, you are wasting not only your clients' time but also yours.

    TOC is not gonna show in the new edge.

    I been using the new edge for some time now

    and I have not seen one yet. 

    I have pdfs with TOC that show when I open with firefox,

    but the same files in edge "no TOC".

    you can get extension from chrome store that will let it happen

    from edge open extensions

    look for a slider that says "allow extensions from other stores"

    click to on (it turns blue)

    scroll to bottom of the extensions page and you will see

    follow the link to go to the chrome store 

    search for    PDF.js PDF Viewer

    or you could go direct to

    click "add to chrome" an presto just that easy.

    We get to use extensions for chrome from google with the new edge.

    NOTE. Once installed click on its extension options and you'll see

                "Sidebar state on load" set it to "show document outline ..."
