PDF Table of Contents

Whenever I needed to view a pdf I always used Edge because it has a table of contents in the sidebar, but now that I'm using the new Edge, it no longer seems to have that, I was just wondering if this is a feature that hasn't been integrated yet, or if there's an alternate way of getting it back.

The table of contents feature is now available in the Stable release Edge 86 released October 9th.

    Hi,

    As of now, TOC isn't available in the new Edge. It may or may not come - the latest status is as follows:

    Under Review Enable navigation of PDF files via table of contents 2 weeks

    The status should change to Planned if it goes live - No ETA, however. Feedback is updated every week, most likely Wednesday.

    Hi Inomaker,

    I get your point now.

    Seems that this is due to the new Edge browser's update. Currently, I cannot answer you that.

    Rather, I will check on this issue, and see what else we can do about it. Moreso, I will also ask the technical team regarding this because it's possible that this feature might be added in another way to do it. Where it should have been the same as before since like you, the users, are used to doing it, the way it should have been done.

    I understand you are having trouble launching your pdf on Edge yet after the new update, you can no longer relaunch it using the same as before.

    I am not having any problem with opening a PDF in the new browser. I can open PDF's just fine. It's just that there is a feature the legacy Edge browser has that this new Edge browser does not seem to have. That feature is the table of contents. In the legacy Edge browser, the button for it is right next to the page count, in the current edge browser there is no button for it. I am asking if this feature is not yet integrated into the new Edge browser, or if there is another way to access this feature.

    Hi Inomaker,

    I’m Rey, your Windows 10 Advisor.

    I understand you are having trouble launching your pdf on Edge yet after the new update, you can no longer relaunch it using the same as before.

    There are instances that it's not going to launch on Edge, but you just need to edit this. What you need to do is to set this.

    To do this, click your start button, and type default programs.

    Now scroll below and select "Default apps by file type".

    You'll get several of the options, scroll until you'll see .pdf and on the right change the correct app that's being used to EDGE.

    This will enable the pdf files to load using Edge.
