Whenever I needed to view a pdf I always used Edge because it has a table of contents in the sidebar, but now that I'm using the new Edge, it no longer seems to have that, I was just wondering if this is a feature that hasn't been integrated yet, or if there's an alternate way of getting it back.

The table of contents feature is now available in the Stable release Edge 86 released October 9th.

I am struggling to keep my selected pdf software as the default fo open my files. Every few days I need to go and change it from Edge to Adobe. It is exceptionally annoying, and feels that a package is being forced upon me to use. Please sort this out.
Yeah they scrapped that feature for now it looks like. I also notice that scrolling through the pdf viewer on the new edge is very choppy and not fluid at all.
I am having this same issue. I use PDF's for all my college courses and that feature was essential in navigating my textbooks especially during tests. I am able to access the table of contents with both Firefox and Chrome so I know it is not missing as stated above. It is a shame that I now have to switch to using another browser for all my classes so that I can have access to this feature. I tried opening my PDF's with the older Internet Explorer but the program keeps rerouting me to the sub-efficient Edge making this browser obsolete for my purpose.
The table of contents can be navigated from its actual page, and this is also dependent on the version of the pdf. There are some older versions that lack this feature, and therefore can't be navigated. I hope a solution (like the TOC button right next to the page numbers as it previously was) can be implemented soon.
Otherwise, I am very impressed with the recent upgrade of the browser, Bing, and the personalisation of the Start page.
