I cannot understand why Microsoft have limited the number of Quick Links able to be displayed on the home page to eight. I have been using Firefox for several years and found that with up to 16 available, I can cover the the sites I uses regularly (although I don't use all 16).
To not even, say, allow an option to increase the number seems to be unnecessarily controlling/limiting.
I have submitted this as formal feedback, I hope more people do so.

Definitely need more quick links
If you see something in Edge that you don't like, or there is a feature you're missing, please use the browser's feedback option to make your opinion or wishes known. Feedback goes straight to the Edge team and forms the basis for their future work. The most common items of feedback are collated each month and a table listing them and the progress that's being made with them is posted at the top of this forum.
If you examine the current table, you'll see this item:
| Planned for December | Allow more top sites on the New Tab Page |
|---|
This means that the feature will be released for testing in the insider previews then, and all being well added to the public stable version soon afterwards.
To submit your ideas, press Alt-Shift-i or click ⋯ (Settings and more) > Help and feedback > Send feedback.
I only have seven :-) But I agree with you. I have used Firefox for years and before that, Netscape, but my banking site does not allow me to use Firefox.
I was thinking of switching from OPERA. I have 26 quick links on my OPERA home page currently. I probably could "get by" with fewer (maybe 16-20) but why?? There is plenty of space to show more links, and the coding shouldn't be very difficult to enable a larger array of links.
Use short favorites in bar
While there are of course options and work-arounds to achieve the same, the request was for more Quick Links on the Edge Homepage, and apparently this IS now in the process of being implemented.
