Where have the pen icon in Microsoft Edge gone?

I have a Surface Studio.  No battery, plenty of RAM(16GB) and 1TB SSD.  I think the resource difference is negligible for me.  Any ETA on bringing this feature back?  90% of my pen usage was with Edge.  Now I rarely use the pen.

Totally agree - this was the reason I bought the Surface in the first place and need to annotate web pages for students when teaching. Seriously MS - look at the 100's of dissatisfied customer comments here and please sort this out! Why would anyone ever use Edge without this feature anyway?

Hi there, I was looking for the same thing. I had not used it before but it sounded like a great feature.

It turns out you can mark up web pages now, but you have to take a screenshot first.

Turn on the screenshot function in Edge by clicking the more (3 dots top right corner) - settings - appearance. Here you can select 'show web capture button'

Once you have the web capture button you can use it to take a screenshot of the page, it should then allow you to mark up that screenshot.

Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for but hopefully solves some of the issue.

Yes we know that they have made that funcion available, but it is not the same as the original. They sold the Surface with the possibility to annotate and save the annotations directly on any web page. We could save the whole webpage and open it again as a fully funcional web page with our notes still written on it. Now it is really nothing more than a screendump with notes. If i wanted screenshots Id rather use greenshot.

Yeah, not a smart move at all on R&D's part deciding that this feature was archaic or primitive. This was literally the only thing that gave it a driving edge (ironically) over Google. Decided for the first time ever I voluntarily wanted to use Edge, years & years of not even touching IE ; simply to give it a little support. It was only this feature that drove me to potentially use it on the regular for use in reference material while I write.
