Troubleshooting website display or functionality issues in Edge on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Good evening.
After this last updating of Microsoft Edge, the pen icon is missing. I like to save and write on my Web pages. Can someone tell me how to fix this?
Thank you

I'm jumping on the bandwagon a little late on this, but I just updated the browser. The loss of the markup capability is a real disappointment. Why take it out? I really enjoyed using it and it was a deciding factor in using Edge over Chrome. Now, what's the point? I can just use Full Screen Snip on either one, but it's not the same.
Please bring it back.
Same here. I'm a researcher and I need to annotate papers I'm reading. I updated my Edge last night because I kept getting an error message when saving and annotated pdfs wouldn't save at all. I can write on them, and have managed to get the highlighter function back but can no longer add typed comments to pdfs, or annotate web pages. This is a HUGE retrograde step Microsoft!
Hi Hilda,
I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 3 year Windows Insider MVP here to help.
The newest version of Microsoft Edge does not have inking capability. Can you please check the update history to see if you had an update for Edge?
Thanks for your helpful reply, dear Sumit.
I do agree with the people who would highly appreciate to get this functionality back.
What ist technically the right thing to do. Where can I find this tool, where you type in feature requestst and can upvote requests from other users?
Haven't used that for years, but I really liked it.
Kind regards, Sabine
I agree. Bring it back! I really miss the selection tool. I used this to copy a frame in a video as a picture. It was great. All I had to do was wait until the video got to the place I wanted then clicked the selection tool. The video then automatically paused so I could then select it's window. This kept me from having to pause the video & then copy the frame with a big Play arrow in the middle of it, blocking 1/2 of what I needed. For god sake Microsoft, bring it back!!!
Click on the tip twice and you will launch an additional window, this is the new "Inking on workspace" then you will be able to start writing on the existing document like before. you are able to adjust the pen settings to your preference (click once or twice) in your "pen settings". hope this helps.
