How do I remove Microsoft Edge From Windows 10?

I've poked around and all threads on this question seem to have been locked. I'm not sure why we're forced to have edge installed if we don't want it. Can someone please provide exact instructions on how to remove Edge?

Hey there, everyone

Microsoft Edge cannot be uninstalled from Windows. This is because the browser is built into Windows - but gets updates separately from the Windows Update client. 

No matter which command you decide to run in PowerShell, this will not work. You can, of course, use an alternative browser. To do this, please download and install a browser of your choice though the Microsoft Store, or though the web browser. 

Once you launch the other web browser, such as Chrome, it will ask you if you want to make that browser a default browser. Once you select this, everything should open in Chrome, and not Edge. 

For those who are saying that Microsoft is forcing you to use Edge. You can use a different browser instead of Edge. Just like, if you were using an iPhone, you can install another browser instead of the built-in browser called Safari. Android systems have a built-in browser too, which cannot be uninstalled, but you are able to use a different browser too. 

Is this something new? No, browsers have always been built into the OS. Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10 have Internet Explorer which is built into the OS. Windows 8, 8.1, 10 also have Edge built in too.

    Thank you, unfortinatly this did not work. I. Have tried multiple comands in powershell....Took ownership of files , one at a time...I have spent 3 days attempting many different solutions. It seems that allowing this new update was a mistake. I run MSEdge on three of my machines and it works as advertised. But on my Toshiba satellite it takes over 10 seconds to load... I have the computer running faster than all the others outside of the browser. Surprisingly I can get Chrome to load in under 5 seconds (still to slow for me).

      It seems that Microsoft is forgetting that the custumers are the ones purchasing stocks and the excuse that Edge along with other greyed out apps are intrigual parts is saddening... I now am having to get a32ram card just because i can not remove this app from my computer..

      This is not gentlemen like of Microsoft and it seems that they are getting more forcefull with what they think custumers need... How are they going to compete in this market if more users have to buy a new machine to handle the software....

       This was more of a rant...Thanks you for the feed back...

    This worked for me (source lifehacker):

    1. Open Windows File Explorer
    2. Type “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application” into the address bar and hit Enter. This should open the Edge installation folder—if not, try navigating to the folder manually, or search for “Edge” in File Explorer.
    3. There should be a folder with a numerical name. The name is the same as the current version of Edge installed on your PC. For example, at the time of writing, the folder on my machine is “84.0.464.44.” Open that folder.
    4. Find and open the “Installer” folder.
    5. In this folder, click the “File” tab in the upper-left of the File Explorer window, then go to File > Open Windows PowerShell > Open Windows PowerShell as administrator.
    6. Click “Yes” when prompted to allow the program to make changes to your system.
    7. Type.\setup.exe -uninstall -system-level -verbose-logging -force-uninstall into PowerShell and press Enter to run the command and let it run.

    After that, all of the files in the \Microsoft\Edge\Application folder were gone, but Edge still appeared in my start menu. I went into the control panel and Microsoft Edge was listed in Add/Remove Programs and was able to be uninstalled as normal.
