How do I remove Microsoft Edge From Windows 10?

I've poked around and all threads on this question seem to have been locked. I'm not sure why we're forced to have edge installed if we don't want it. Can someone please provide exact instructions on how to remove Edge?

Hey there, everyone

Microsoft Edge cannot be uninstalled from Windows. This is because the browser is built into Windows - but gets updates separately from the Windows Update client. 

No matter which command you decide to run in PowerShell, this will not work. You can, of course, use an alternative browser. To do this, please download and install a browser of your choice though the Microsoft Store, or though the web browser. 

Once you launch the other web browser, such as Chrome, it will ask you if you want to make that browser a default browser. Once you select this, everything should open in Chrome, and not Edge. 

For those who are saying that Microsoft is forcing you to use Edge. You can use a different browser instead of Edge. Just like, if you were using an iPhone, you can install another browser instead of the built-in browser called Safari. Android systems have a built-in browser too, which cannot be uninstalled, but you are able to use a different browser too. 

Is this something new? No, browsers have always been built into the OS. Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10 have Internet Explorer which is built into the OS. Windows 8, 8.1, 10 also have Edge built in too.

    CCleaner has a tool to uninstall programs and apps. It lists Edge as removable. Has anyone tried it?

    Just remember, you remove something that is integrated inside Windows, some day Microsoft will push out an update that expects those files to be there and you'll likely bork your computer. Is this weird obsession people have about removing Edge really worth the possibility of screwing up your computer?

    And has been stated by richard000000001 CCleaner is totally bad news and should never ever be run on anyone's computer system.

    I did not recommend the use of CCleaner anymore too many issues. Very close to being PUP. I highly recommend that you do not uninstall Edge by any means. You have no way this will affect your system either now or in the future. But, if you must, I would suggest you use Revo Uninstaller.     I don't use either Edge browser and probably never will. But I don't feel compelled to uninstall the default browser for Windows 10 simply because I don't care to use it. You can make any browser the default browser for Windows 10. If you don't know how to do this, Google it and you can easily find instructions on how to do so. I have used Windows forever and before Edge was Internet Explorer, I really did not use IE either but never felt the need to uninstall it. I don't see a issue with Edge sitting on a device and not being used. Its takes up little space and really poises no issues if you never use it. Maybe someone can explain the obsession with uninstalling Edge these days? I use IOS and Mac OS and both come with Safari browser and neither OS allows Safari to be uninstalled. I have frustrations with Windows 10 for sure, but getting rid of Edge is not one of them.

    14 -- When your O/S breaks in the future because you removed a key part of the system, don't forget you broke it by doing the previous 13 steps.

    What users should do is just download their preferred browser and make it the default. Once you do that you'll likely never see Edge again, so the issue becomes solved and you don't risk breaking your computer down the road.
