My wife's computer had the same problem.  I fixed it by clicking on the 3 dots on the "pop-up" and options came up to turn off all notifications in Microsoft Edge, when I did that the "pop-up's" stopped.

1st thing is to completely remove McAfee if it is in the system/machine. See below*.

Are you using Windows Defender or do you, actually have McAfee installed? You should be using Windows Defender so, either way follow the following recommendations:

  1. In the OS Settings search box type Pop-ups and hit Block or allow pop-ups

That will give you the following window. Check, Turn on pop-up blocker & hit OK

  1. In Edge Settings under Cookies & site permissions make sure the 2 things indicated are set to Blocked

    *3. Employ the McAfee Removal Tool - Download McAfee Removal Tool (MCPR) - MajorGeeks

And/OR

  1. Employ The Revo Uninstaller Tool (Use the one on the left, Revo Uninstaller Freeware) - Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download
  2. (Now) Window Defender Security runs by default if & when no 3rd Party security programme or software is in the OS, at all.

    I finally spoke to someone at McAfee from the Executive Customer Assistance Team. He told me that these marketing popups are built in to Mcafees LiveSafe program and cannot be disabled, or blocked via Windows settings.

    If you look at the program itself, you will see there is no option to disable these annoying marketing communication pop ups.

    The only way to stop them is to completely uninstall the program.

    By the way, when i told him I get at least 2 a day, he told me that many people get far more.

    Its a push notification from the site pepiriforee.co.in that you may have knowingly or unknowingly allowed in the browser.

    So it is not a software installed locally nor a virus that the anti virus will be able to detect. Its an AdWare showing itself as a notification with a screen that is mocked to look like a legitimate anti virus notification.

    Solution: Go to your browser's settings, search for notifications and look if you see pepiriforee.co.in with allowed permissions to sent notifications. Remove or delete this and the site will not have access to send those pesky notifcation anymore
