My wife's computer had the same problem.  I fixed it by clicking on the 3 dots on the "pop-up" and options came up to turn off all notifications in Microsoft Edge, when I did that the "pop-up's" stopped.

1st thing is to completely remove McAfee if it is in the system/machine. See below*.

Are you using Windows Defender or do you, actually have McAfee installed? You should be using Windows Defender so, either way follow the following recommendations:

  1. In the OS Settings search box type Pop-ups and hit Block or allow pop-ups

That will give you the following window. Check, Turn on pop-up blocker & hit OK

  1. In Edge Settings under Cookies & site permissions make sure the 2 things indicated are set to Blocked

    *3. Employ the McAfee Removal Tool - Download McAfee Removal Tool (MCPR) - MajorGeeks

And/OR

  1. Employ The Revo Uninstaller Tool (Use the one on the left, Revo Uninstaller Freeware) - Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download
  2. (Now) Window Defender Security runs by default if & when no 3rd Party security programme or software is in the OS, at all.

    I am today being bomb barded with pop-ups from newsadsfit.com that my computer has been contaminated by a number of viruses that has obtained data of my accounts and passwords. It also advises that my McAfee account is out of date and that I should confirm my payment details to renew my McAfee account. My direct contact with McAfee and Windows Security has confirmed that my McAfee account is current until Aug, 2023. Both security

    devices have confirmed virus free status. These pop-ups are indeed concerning, whilst I suspect them to be scams.
