There was a bug in Windows 7 that surfaced some weeks ago. Ensuring that all Win7 updates were applied solved this problem for at least some affected users.
Are you using any VPN or Proxy?
Did you add any extensions?
Try close the Microsoft Edge and re-open it and try again.
No VPN, Proxy or extension. I just signed out while using and tried again to sign in within minutes. But, cannot.
