Starting this morning, Edge does not remember logins to any website

I've NEVER used Edge. I use Firefox. Ever since they dumped this new Edge on my laptop I've had to log in to sites that I've checked to "keep me logged in". It's random too. Sometimes Google is still logged in, sometimes not. Sometimes Facebook is ok, sometimes not. Netflix, Amazon same thing. I'll log back in and at some point during the day I'll get signed out again. I've cleared my cache, cookies, etc. from Firefox and went into my CCleaner and cleared that all out. Then one by one I added those cookies that I wanted to keep back into CCleaner. When I use CCleaner I notice now that it's clearing tons of files from both the new Edge AND the old one. Why in the hell would there be all of those files in a program that I don't even use?? I couldn't remove the new Edge through my app settings in control panel. It doesn't even show the old edge but yet CCleaner is finding files in that one too? I did manage to remove the new Edge using CCLeaner, but it eventually re-installs no better than before. I'm getting sick of having to log in to sites I've never had to worry about before. I don't think I should have to do a deep dive into my Powershell to fix what Microsoft screwed up. I'm now considering a move to a Mac. BTW: I'm running Windows 1909. I see an option to update to 2004. Anybody think that will help? I'm doubtful about doing that at this point if they don't fix this SNAFU. And YES....I've gone into the new Edge and checked that cookies and hosted data aren't checked to clear on closing. Doesn't work and I'm afraid to even open up Edge at all. I hate it!!

let me start by saying i'm not a tech person.  just a business owner going crazy trying to figure this out.  

I followed this suggestion and power shell gave me a Registry entry number, so i searched it in registry editor and found a scheduled task that checks for upgrades to Carbonite (backup service)  i disabled Carbonite backup for a week to see if that is the problem.  just started, so no results yet, but i was wondering if anyone has a known issue with Carbonite running in the background.  

i disabled the service running as CarboniteUI.exe to see if that would help.

losing my passwords in edge is completely random.  i'm looking for any solution.

It's not the backup function itself that's causing this problem; the fault is within Task Scheduler. It's vital to keep your backups up to date, so disabling Carbonite is not the best way to avoid the log-in problems and you should re-enable it again.

Open Task Scheduler (search will find it), locate the task that PowerShell identified and disable that. You can do without updates to the Carbonite program itself until the Windows bug is fixed (a few weeks, perhaps).

been trying not to do that since it gets rid of all your short cuts and other stuff.

hopefully they will fix the issue soon. Its really not all that horrible. 

It doesn't get rid of anything, it just reverts back to the "original Edge", everything is still there.
