Starting this morning, Edge does not remember logins to any website

Starting this morning, every time I close Edge and reopen it, it doesn't remember any of my login so I have to login every time to every website.

I confirmed my setting is set to NOT clear cookies when I close my browser and it has always been this way.  I have never had this issue until this morning.

A features update was installed this morning and that's when this problem started.  Is there a bug with this update?  I'm running Windows 10 and Edge Version 86.0.622.38.  As you can imagine, it is quite annoying having to login to every time to every website.  

Update-There must be a bug because other people on Reddit are starting to report the same issue.

Hi folks, 

The original topic of this thread (Microsoft Edge not remembering logins) has been resolved. Make sure you've updated to the latest version of Edge to get the fix! I'm locking this thread as it is becoming difficult to moderate and troubleshoot individual issues, and this thread has turned in to a catch-all for all password issues. 

If you are still seeing issues with Edge not remembering passwords and all other programs are remembering your logins as expected, please start a new thread so we can help you individually. 

If you are seeing system-wide issues with passwords being saved:

• Check your Windows version to confirm if you are on Build 19041.173 or later

• If yes, reference this troubleshooting document Outlook and other apps won't remember password after Windows Updates - Outlook (microsoft.com) Note that this is a workaround until this Windows issue is patched.

    Melerix, how do you revert back to Edge Stable 85.0.564.70?  How do you prevent 86 from re-installing itself?

    is not possible at this moment, but I hope it will get fixed soon, due is just a bug in Edge, not in Windows.

    It's pretty simple to fix if Edge doesn't remember your log in info. The update two days ago broke Edge and if you want to fix it just uninstall the new edge  and reinstall it. worked for me on both of my computers. Everything will be back to normal and doesn't require you to reenter any of your login info and Edge will work as if nothing ever happened.

    OK, that's a pity. So that task is no longer enabled? Or did you delete it? 

    I'm wondering if you've tested this robustly, because this is the nearest we've come to finding a cause for the fault you're seeing and yours is the first troubleshootable instance of it I've come across. Troubleshooting is often tedious, but it's very rewarding when that Aha! moment comes.

    1. Check that the task no longer appears in Task Scheduler after a computer restart, or at any rate that it is no longer scheduled to run.
    2. Check that your cookie and password options are all set to remember everything and remove nothing.
    3. Log in to a couple of sites where you were having to re-enter credentials and ensure that any 'remember me' options are selected.
    4. Check that the usernames and passwords were saved (edge://settings/passwords).
    5. Close the browser, restart the computer and visit those sites again.

    You might also be able to find clues by visiting edge://histograms/oscrypt after opening a site that's forgotten your login. Any error there (like 

    Histogram: OSCrypt.Win.KeyDecryptionError

    showing error code -2146893813) means that you're indeed hitting the bug I'm talking about.

    A vague idea, yes. It looks like a bug* that Windows engineers are trying to squash, so it might help if you submitted feedback so they have another data point to work with.

    To test the theory, then, open Task Scheduler, e.g. by Start > Run > taskschd.msc. Locate the 'HPCustParticipation' task that PowerShell identified (it's probably there in the Library list that is displayed as soon as Task Scheduler opens).

    For a start, right-click on it and Disable it. Then restart the computer and see whether you're still seeing the same problem with logins going missing. And, of course, check that you can still use that printer - but not until you've tested authentication, because running the printer might just re-enable the task.

    If there's no improvement, you can use TS again to Enable the task if you think it's necessary, or Delete it if you don't.
