How to prevent Microsoft Start page from coming up when I click on a news article in the New Tab page?

Starting today (1/4/2022), whenever I click on a news article in the New Tab page, the Microsoft Start page is displayed instead. How do I stop that from happening?

Mine started working. I thought it was because I tried to download Firefox browser.

Mine appears to still be busted. I'll try another reboot.

.... time passes ...

I rebooted again and now it seems to be working.

Fingers crossed, the links to news articles now appear to be working. Did not require any browser refresh or reinstall of any SW or reboot.

The whole app is irritating. Especially when you're in the middle of a project and up it pops. No way to get around it. Wish there was a way to disable it. If I want the news, I know how to find it.

did you pay for my computer? I did not pay three grand on a computer, so it could tell ME what it's going to do/ and not going to do. I don't want this service. Keep it up I'm going to just pay extra for the Apple (same form of concubine/**** compony )but at least a different name). You're like the Walmart of computer companies. Just wanted you to know.
