How to prevent Microsoft Start page from coming up when I click on a news article in the New Tab page?

Starting today (1/4/2022), whenever I click on a news article in the New Tab page, the Microsoft Start page is displayed instead. How do I stop that from happening?

    niether solution that carlos posted work. MS needs to fix ASAP. I even downloaded a MS patch that doesn't work either.Don't like what ever they did.

    I did the same , reset Edge, downloaded and reinstalled Edge - same problem.

    I also have this issue. I suspect this is an issue with MSN.com, the default start page from Edge and Edge Chrome, possibly they got hacked.

    If you go to another news page, i.e. USAToday.com or Yahoo links work.

    The same thing happens in Google Chrome if you go to MSN.com from there. The links don't work.

    Me also. Wasted too much time trying to correct it and then came to the conclusion it wasn't my computer
