How to prevent Microsoft Start page from coming up when I click on a news article in the New Tab page?

Starting today (1/4/2022), whenever I click on a news article in the New Tab page, the Microsoft Start page is displayed instead. How do I stop that from happening?

    It's the Y22K bug they working on it I guess.

    I also have started having the exact same (looping to microsoft start) problem, starting today.

    I am geek enough to keep myself out of trouble and to repair/fix 99% of all issues that arise on my equipment.

    Sorry to say this fix did not work.

    I'm in the same boat. Just happened this morning, Jan 4th. I've tried all the suggestions and nothing works. I'm running Microsoft 10 so it's not a Microsoft 11 issue along.
