How do you stop edge from opening a new tab every time you click a link???

I'm having the same issue here.

New laptop, windows 11.

Just updated those settings you've suggested and saved.

Went and searched a new thing, clicked the link on the search results page and it did the exact same thing instead of just redirecting from search page it continues to open new tabs for every link clicked. Is this a bug /issue?

Has anyone else managed to resolve this issue once those settings Van suggested were updated or did you uncheck both, save and then the same thing happening again?

Just gonna go back to Google chrome if it continues.

I'm having the same problem on every computer I own. I just moved us from Chrome to Edge a few weeks ago. I regularly use 4-5 computers and I have unchecked the boxes noted above on all with NO DIFFERENCE! Guess I'm moving back to Chrome........

I get a new tab for every link I click and this is driving me insane!! It's been months since this question was first asked here, but still Microsoft has come with no solution.

The issue has nothing to do with a search of any kind. I have the same problem as of recently. It doesn't seem to me that anyone here is explaining this issue properly. I can be on any open internet site such as Amazon. And when I click on any task such as simply clicking on the arrow to change from one picture of a given product to another picture, I get a new tab that pops up showing the Amazon home page. Another example: I use MSN as my home page and when I click on the arrow to advance from one news topic in the main windowpane to another news topic, I get a new tab that opens showing some other irrelevant internet page. I do not use Bing as my default search engine. So, it has nothing to do with Bing. This nuisance has only been happening for about two weeks as of 12/09/23. I believe it started after a recent MS edge update. This is a MS Edge software issue that needs to be resolved quickly! This is a true aggravation!

That is exactly what is happening!! And none of the changes suggested online or above seem to help at all.....
