How do you stop edge from opening a new tab every time you click a link???

Microsoft made disabling this feature such a chore, and navigating settings didn't help one bit. I figured I'd ask on the forums before ditching edge all together.

I'm having the same issues as described below. Is there a fix for this because its really annoying.

Went through these steps, but still having the same issue for the past 3 months or so. Probably a bug with the browser. Hopefully Microsoft will work on a resolution soon.

I'm forced to use a "beta" version at work where this 'feature' appeared for a couple months with no workaround I could find until it disappeared with the next update. Hopefully you will see the same on the main browser release schedule soon

checked and have already unchecked both boxes but still opens new tab every time so annoying.

Hi,

I have tried this solution, but edge, for some reason, keeps this setting checked, even when i unchecked it and saved it multiple times.
Does anybody know how to fix it? It is annoying as hell.
