How do you stop edge from opening a new tab every time you click a link???

Microsoft made disabling this feature such a chore, and navigating settings didn't help one bit. I figured I'd ask on the forums before ditching edge all together.

    I found a fix - 'Open Same Tab' extension solves the issue....

    It didn't work, and I am angry that microsoft is trying to force me to use her browser. I have a default browser and microsoft has no business overriding it. I have also followed the instructions and microsoft is probably mocking me. I had to go through the same nonsense on another laptop I bought. I believe microsoft owns outlook. I have used outlook for a quarter of a century, but unless I get help with this, I will go to gmail. Perhaps this is the reason that about 85% of my customers have gmail addresses. EMM

    I found it. microsoft set outlook to override your default browser and you pull your hair out and resist cursing and swearing as you try to figure out why your default browser is not responding. Here is where microsoft hid the setting: GO INTO THE OUTLOOK APP AND CLICK ON THE FOLLOWING LINKS > FILE > ADVANCED > FILE AND BROWSER PREFERENCES > OPEN HYPERLINKS FROM OUTLOOK IN: CHANGE THIS FROM "MICROSOFT EDGE" TO "DEFAULT BROWSER". It took me hours to find this and the only reason I did is because I started to remember the process when I did it a year ago on my husband's computer. Programmers are such control freaks! When will business men be converted and treat their customers with dignity, transparency and the freedom to choose, even as God has given them the choice to be decent human beings or loveless, selfish?

    UPDATE!!! - if you are on your new tab and opening quick links there and it opens on a new tab.

    DO THE FOLLOWING - 2 places you need to switch off the setting.

    1.

    Open new Tab

    Click on the Gear Icon

    Then toggle the open in new tab button.

    2.

    Open Bing.com

    Click on the Safe search option.

    There you can uncheck the following under results.
