How do you stop edge from opening a new tab every time you click a link???

Microsoft made disabling this feature such a chore, and navigating settings didn't help one bit. I figured I'd ask on the forums before ditching edge all together.

    This is happening to me now, and every time I tab over using RB or LB I get an additional pop up.

    It's only in some recent update and I already disabled the option in the bing search results. Every webpage, even the notification dropdown menus in most websites, everything opens in a new tab and before I know it I have 50 tabs open that I have to close one by one.

    I would like to obtain additional information about this. On which websites are you observing links that open in a new tab when clicked?

    I have the same issue: saved favorites in toolbar, links in news articles (not Bing searches) - almost everything I do to go to a new web page results in a new tab. I'm not happy with the extra step of closing an old tab I have no longer want to use.

    If you are using the Bing search engine. Kindly perform the steps below to turn off this feature.

    1. Open Edge browser then go to https://www.bing.com/#!
    2. Click the three-line menu at the upper-right corner of the page.
    3. Select Settings > More.
    4. On the next page uncheck both "Open links from search results in a new tab or window" and "Open links from news results in a new tab or window" under the Results option.
    5. Click Save then relaunch the browser.
