How to Extend IE mode more than 30 days

OK, here's an update. The first time I ran the script, I got an error message that "Microsoft Edge sign-in detected. Profile not updated". I didn't know what it means. But when I log on to my outlook.live.com account, an automatic sign-in seems to happen that belongs to the administrator though he has a gmail account and not an outlook.live.com account. Perhaps that's the default account created by Windows during starting the PC.

Anyway, I logged out of it and then ran the script with SUCCESS. Interestingly, the end year remains 2099 even after signing on to my outlook.live.com account. The year remains 2099 even after the admin signs to his gmail account. Haven't tried logging on to admin's outlook.live account as it's irrelevant and also because I am afraid the end period may revert to 30 days.

Tks. May be I didn't put it correctly. I did mention in my reply of December 8 that "I have added a site in Edge and it will work for 30 days from yesterday". That meant that I had added the site to the "IE mode pages" section under default browser in settings.

Thanks. I will do as advised. But I have a doubt. While you have said that I don't have to change anything in the script and have advised to simply copy and save the file and then click it to run, a little scrutiny revealed some instructions you have given in the script. e.g.

Lines 1 to 17

in line 21 ....... specify the date here

in line 23 ...... uncomment and edit the Addsites line below

and may be more

I have already added the concerned site as a favourite, in IE mode and I am using it now. So just to reconfirm, I should save the entire file as per any one of the 3 methods and run it as it is, right?

BTW, how will I come to know that end date has got changed?

Hi

I have added a site in Edge and it will work for 30 days from yesterday. I am not an IT guy and hence don't understand anything about a script or how to run it. When I read the script it looked like instructions to the users like me. Is there any way, I can get an easy to use and run script (or .exe file) without making any mistake?

Or just a set of commands that I can copy/paste in "cmd" and enter? e.g. commands like sfc /scannow or DISM.exe/ commands? I have used them before and am familiar with such simple commands.

BTW, the need for using IE mode for this particular site is that Edge doesn't support Java which this site needs. I had given feedback to Microsoft on this isssue over an year ago but in vain.

If the user already has the site entered into Edge then no modification is needed. Just run the script to set the expiry to 2099.

If you want to both add the URL to the user's Edge profile and set the expiry, then edit the line that starts with "AddSites =". Uncomment the line (remove the apostrophe) and replace the example URLs with your URL.

You can post the modified line here for verification, but if it works, then there's no need.

And, as noted in the script, it only works with not signed in Edge profiles.
