I tried to cash out my Microsoft cashback but can't!

I spent an hour on their support chat and it became evident there is an issue with the information intake process (form).

Support seemed to think there is supposed to be a drop-down menu in add a phone number where you can select the alias. This does not exist though.

Easy solutions for their dev team:

• Add an inline link to the email (alias) that has your add a phone text. Then make sure that link applies the alias to the associated email that is inline.
• Add the drop down support really thought was there to apply the email to the alias.
• SINCE existing users already are required to have a phone number (where support already looked) just automatically assign that to the alias known to associate with it and require a verify code send to reverify it.

Former developer, these are all easy fixes. :)

The support team seems to think elements are in place that are not. This is not a user issue this is a system issue.

Yes. That's the known problem. We're looking to Microsoft to address this with a solution.

I've had this phone number since the early 2000s. Also, PayPal accounts can use email. There's no security reason for this limitation.

Now, the situation is getting to where Microsoft is withholding not insignificant money from people for no reason other than an arbitrary rule. I will have almost $140 in there, soon. Locked away.

The only way is to add another phone number that has not been used before for any prior microsoft username or account.

Microsoft should get rid of that ridiculous requirement. PayPal uses email addresses and you have to log in. There's no "security" enhancement for requiring a phone number alias.
