Build 21277 - Hauppauge WinTV software stopped work

After upgrade Win 10 to the latest build, my Hauppauge Win-TV 10 software doesn't work. It will find the TV tuner (Hauppauge HVR-2200), but when I chose any channel, the screen is still black and I've got such info: "Er ror starting Live TV - Device in Use - Check Cortana is not using your Win-TV-HVR-2200 Serial:0". Which is strange, because I have no Cortana (in Polish Windows it's unavailable).

After reinstalling Win-TV 10 it can detect TV tuner, but when scanning channels can't find any except S-Video input (which is active, with cable TV STB connected to). When I chose in, I've got the same info as previously "Er ror starting Live TV - Device in Use - Check Cortana is not using your Win-TV-HVR-2200 Serial:0".

    Just installed and tested 21354.
This version does fix the problem of WinTV not working correctly (no live tv, can't find any channels, can't find tv tuner) that began in 20H1.

HOWEVER, 21354 DOES NOT fix the problem of the live TV STUTTERING that has been present since 2004.

Have you try HVR 950 WinTV 10 ? as WinTV 8 is no longer supported.

Live TV Stuttering can because by a lot things most common cause is USB speed or Video driver some time out date app software and with to many other device on same port that sharing across with other USB device and but my guest is your Surface Pro 4 has some kind of incompatibility with newer OS or WinTV 8 it self that has incompatibility give NextPVR, SichboPVR a try on newer OS.

    1. No, I have not tried WinTV 10 yet.

That's because WinTV 8 works with Win10 1909 and older perfectly fine on 100% clean ISO installs into the Surface Pro 4.

I went through the trouble of downloading each ISO (1703, 1909, 2004, 21286, 21354) and installing it fresh on the Surface Pro 4, wiping the drive clean, keeping nothing. Each time, I installed WinTV 8 with the noted issues or not.

    2.  Something was DEFINITELY introduced with 2004 and exists in 21354 still that causes the stuttering - Microsoft Windows-side!!!

I can install 1909 and WinTV and the tuner will work 100% fine.
2004 or newer and it will not work fine.

    3.  KEEP in mind, this stuttering issue affects other linked users and more who have USB A/V capture/TV tuner devices, too. In other words, IT IS NOT isolated to simply the older version of WinTV v8 vs 10.

        eg. https://forums.plex.tv/t/windows-10-2004-causes-live-tv-stuttering-and-pixelation/604238

        eg. https://borncity.com/win/2020/06/08/windows-10-version-2004-issues-with-dvbviewer-drivers/

        eg. https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/398965-Dazzle-DVC100-not-capturing-anymore-on-Windows-10
"My Dazzle DVC100 always work fine with Windows 7/8/10 =<1909 until I installed 2004 and also get Inserted Frames with choppy videoplayback and distorted audio."

    4.  There are no other devices plugged into the 1 Surface Pro 4 USB port.

But maybe it could be USB subsystem issues in Win10?

    Eg. https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/comments/fgpdy7/solved\_usb\_dac\_audio\_playback\_stutteringcrackling/

"I noticed that the DAC was plugged into a USB 3.1 Gen 2 port that is provided via the B450 chipset. Miraculously, switching to one of the two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports that look to be provided directly via the CPU seems to have completely solved this problem."

    1. But just for giggles, and betting against it hard, I installed NextPVR and guess what?
The SAME STUTTERING issue occurs across all TV channels.
DEFINITELY NOT a WinTV 8 vs 10 issue, especially given the reports above from other users of other A/V devices that stutter with 2004 or newer.

What you are experiencing is a different problem than the original post. For retail builds, I suggest you contact Customer support. For issues with Insider builds, please file feedback in Feedback Hub. If you wish to continue discussion here in Answers, please start a new thread.

Please note that if there is a new version of the software, I would recommend updating to it on newer Windows versions. Just because something worked on an older version of Windows does not mean it will continue to work on newer versions.

That all I want to know dcdc888 if NextPVR was doing the same thing as just case in was dotnet thing and besure pleases test SichboPVR then this may point to a driver or hardware firmware issues or OS incompatibility with newer builder of Windows 10 my guess is that related to Empia tech em2883 chipset just like what on your DVC100 and many of the other brand TV tuner that ware mention in Born's Tech and Windows World forum post at bottom.

If was you I would just ditch the old 950 as I highly doubt that hauppauge is going put any resources to fixing a 15 year old device as it be that chip manufacture would have to fix there firmware if that where problem is at, you should think about get newer WinTV-dualHD which I test on my Windows 10 Preview builder box as well as quadHD and many other sorry I don't an old 950. You know you could always go to Linux.
