I have using window 11 home, and I enrolled in window insider preview though beta channel.
my window is activated with a digital license linked to my Microsoft account.
when I switched on laptop (realme book slim) , a window popped up showing message " your build of window will expire on 15 September 2024. you should move to new build as soon as possible".
in window updates section, its showing "you are up to date" that means there is no update available to install.
because I'm not able to upload the images here, I share google drive folder link in which all the images available

what should I do to resolve this issue in authentic way asapm

Since you have build 26100.1742 you can leave Insier program by deleting WindowsSelfHost key from registry.

This will lave you rather stable preview of Windows 11 v24H2 which is be released to public later this year, but it will get monthly cumulative updates on patch Tuesdays (Second Tuesday of month).

  1. Open open regedit (push Win key and type regedit).
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost
  3. On left panel right click that key and delete it.
  4. Close regedit and restart.
  5. Check your insider settings to see that its out of Insider Program.
  6. Check for updates to get latest C.U.

If you are having this issue in 2026, refer to these articles:

No. There is no action needed on your side to resolve the “Your Windows Build will expire soon message”this Build of Windows will expire soon” message, since for most of the channels, the Build with updated expiry date isn’t released by Microsoft.

I believe I am one of the people stuck on 26040. I tried upgrading in place and the updater just closes with no message or anything. Windows updater still says there are no updates available regardless of which insider branch i switch to.

    You have to clean install.

    Backup all important documents, etc.

    and clean install 26100. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windowsinsiderpreviewiso

    or use this: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11

I can confirm that you do NOT need to clean install. Clean install may be simpler but that was not an option for me with the configuration of my system. Would take weeks or months to get running back to where they need to be.

I was able to get things going again by using this guide for anyone else having the same issue.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/windowsinsiders/comments/1cldqzq/fix_for_anybody_who_is_stuck_on_26040/?rdt=35759

They key here is that ANY update after 26058 will fail no matter what. I manually updated to 26058, and from there was able to update in place using the 26100 ISO. Updating manually to anything between 26040 and 26058 should probably get you to the point where you can get onto 26100 but I haven't verified myself.

There may be issues with getting these older builds unfortunately as they get scrubbed off of download servers after a certain amount of time. I think this actually is why I got stuck because needed updates were no longer available since this machine had been off for a few months and wasn't able to bridge itself over to the newest build.

I humbly request that there be a SAFE and OFFICIAL way to download 26058 (And any other version) to help people get unstuck from these issues.

Why not just download the latest Canary Insider build ISO for 27718 or 26100.1150 for the Dev channel from the official Microsoft Insider page located here:
