Believe you are correct. Seems to be the MS way, all or nothing. Similar to the blurry login issue that they still will not deal with properly. (gpedit on pro, registry edit for home).
Hey Johnny, Pauli says the same thing about the blur effect and I have Home edition on 3 laptops and I have never had to do a regedit to not have the blur effect at log in. I just turn off Transparency in Settings Personalization. I realize this means I have no blur or Transparency effect anywhere but I don't care for the effect anyway.
