Aware of that, just stating I have not tested the reg file with Pro, only Home. Should be no difference. It actually would be much simpler, faster than using gpedit, providing you had the file on hand.

The info was provided for any Home users that would prefer not to have that annoying blur. Some may be  reluctant to use registry editor. The registry is a big place :-)

For Win10 Home to disable blur, create a file with notepad, should also work on Pro (not tested on Pro, keep forgetting to double check so end up using gpedit as posted above by fg, does work on Home, tested):

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System]

"DisableAcrylicBackgroundOnLogon"=dword:00000001

Rename to "whatever-you-want.reg" and click on the registry file or set manually with registry editor.

Reboot. That's all folks.

If for some reason you want to enable again, same process for a reg file or manually delete line with registry editor:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System]

"DisableAcrylicBackgroundOnLogon"=-

With Windows Pro the registry is set when you enable the policy, they just go together, if you disable the policy or set it to not configured the entry in the registry disappears. With windows Home you don't have the policy editor so you just do it directly in the registry and the result is the same.

Hi Johnny and Drew,

On my Dev Insider install on H-V the login blur screen is gone which I did not change a setting, so I still have Transparency effects enabled.

My two SP4 still blur though.

For Windows 10 Pro:

Local Group Policy

Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System, Logon, Show clear Logon Background

Enable or Disable as you prefer :-)

If not configured it behaves like Disabled.
