General Random Write disk speed degradation in Windows 11.

After updating several machines from Windows 10 to Windows 11 users have noticed a significant degradation on Disk Random Write speed. This is quite noticeable with NVMe SSDs benchmarks, it also seems to affect SATA SSDs even if it is not as significant. See 3 samples below with 3 different devices on Windows 10 and Windows 11:

    This is a known issue which according to articles I have read is solved in KB5007262. I am running 22518 and I looked at my update history of Quality updates and I don't see it. I have another post right now where I asked the question, but one of the MVPs suggested that I shouldn't ask it here. Not sure why. I downloaded the KB, but it will not install on 22518. Is that the build you are testing on?

    That KB5007262 was for 22000.348 not for development build 22518.

    Anyway, there was no fix for this specific problem of write speed degradation on that update.

    Still nothing. It's pretty upsetting such an issue as this is being ignored by Microsoft. Basically high end hardware can't run up to spec because of this these kind of issues.

    Edit: I just updated Windows 11 to the latest patch. KB5008353 which updated Windows to version 22000.469. And ran the benchmark on my Samsung 980 Pro. And as I did not see this mentioned in the release notes, I can say I was surprised.

    Random Write IOPS are much hight now. It more than doubled from my previous run and is almost up to spec. I went from 291K random write IOPS to 750K random write IOPS. That is much closer to the specified 1.000.000 IOPS that the drive supports. Random Read IOPS are still up to spec with 974K IOPS.

    Hope for all of you out there that your performance is up to spec again as well.
