General Random Write disk speed degradation in Windows 11.

Okay, so further investigation and I think the issue is, at least partially, VBS in Win 11. I turned off VBS and my random write went from 733 to over 1200 (it was never anywhere close to 1200 before). Turned VBS back on -- down to 700. My IOPs also improved in Samsung Magician (the configuration software for my SSD) -- both random read and write. From 300k to almost 400k random read and from 150k to 235k in ransom write.

So I think, at least partially, if not significantly, the issue is when VBS is running under Win 11. So try it -- turn off VBS by going to settings/core isolation Then turn off "memory integrity" there. You'll have to reboot. Then run crystaldiskmark.

You can type in: msinfo32 to see if VBS (Virtualization-based Security) is running now on your system.

Then turn back memory integrity back on and reboot, if you want to go back to VBS running.

I checked msinfo32 on one machine running Build 22000.318 and VBS shows not enabled.

Same thing on another desktop.

What/where is Feed Back Hub. Is there a link? I'm not familiar with it.

It is an Application on your windows system, just click on all apps in the upper corner of the start menu and you can find it in alphabetical order, you can pin it to your taskbar and it will be easier to find next time you need it. 😉

I don't know anything about this forum. So how do we get this issue before the right MS people -- how do we get their attention? How do we know they got the message?

Write report on FBH (Feed Back Hub), that is the official way to report problems to MS.
