    Hi Pauli,

Yet another different behavior on Dell XPS 8930 going from 21337.1000 to 21337.1010 with W.U.

     1) After 1st restart:

    1. After 2nd restart, black screen with mouse pointer and frozen dots (not spinning):

    1. After 3rd restart, just please wait and spinning dots:

    1. Login screen and finally up at 21337.1010.

The whole thing is quite ridiculous compared to the classic message below which used to show the % of progress on every restart:

Ok, cool... the results of that will be interesting.  As you know, mine was/is via WU and a VM. Maybe, there was black with nothing for a while, too.  So, yes, let's see what there is without a VM involved nor WU. I'm used to working the peculiarities of having the VM go. So will be cool to know what you get.  I can just say is it seems we all had similar 'process' screens that were different than in the past. The whole process with this Cum going seemed different than what we are accustomed to with them, time taken, screens seen, et al.  I trust Windows must be looking into something with this exercise.

BTW & FWIW, I am enjoying using the IB & particularly this one & going forward.  Compared to Win10, there is just something about the 'look & feel' of the IB that's just 'nicer'. IDK, 'big', bright, clear, lovely, consistent icons everywhere, spacing AND all the desktops with their own names, accent colour, backgrounds (Looks so cool & adds to knowing which is what by its picture) & positions, Dark more wide-spread, Windows Terminal (with tabs), colour picked for Edge and more. It looks great and heaps of cool things to explore.  It's going to be a hoot as we see more & more evidence of Sun Valley.  Forgive if my thoughts on this have bored you.

    Cheers,

    >"I do not think it's a bug.  As I has said I saw the same unfamiliar screens, black "Updating your system 100%"

I think that black screes with text "Updating your.... " is by design but if that black screen without text is bug.

Correct, a black screen with nothing, but the mouse cursor for several minutes is a bug...

I will try the same W.U. update from a clean install of 21337.1000 to see if the behavior is different...

    Edit:

Same behavior after a clean install of 21337.1000 on Dell XPS 8300.

W.U. downloaded and installed the updates for 21337.1010 and asked for a restart,

    1. After restart, it came up with the same message "Updates underway... " plus spinning dots.
    2. Second restart came up with the black screen (No messages) just mouse pointer.

(I could see the activity for several minutes because this PC still has the HDD or SATA SSD activity LED 😉 )

    1. Another restart and again the same message "Updates underway..." plus spinning dots.
    2. Login screen and finally up at 21337.1010.

No other message and no progress % indication ever.

Exactly the same behavior on the MSI GT70-0NC Laptop.

I do not think it's a bug.  As I has said I saw the same unfamiliar screens, black "Updating your system 100%" & the other 'new' "Updating, don't unplug" with no progress indicator.  It all did take a while, but was successful.  It's just WIP testing things, trying things (delivery methods). I do find MY 337 is running very nicely & better than the previous 2 Builds.

    Cheers,
