Steam client broken after updating to Windows Tech Preview Build 9879

It would appear that the latest build of the windows technical preview has caused some serious stability issues for Steam users.

As we all know, this is a big reason why many people use Windows for their desktop PC. To stably play games =)

I ask that the Microsoft  OS engineers please try to track down whatever changes they've introduced with this latest build so that we can once again  have the ability to use Steam.

Symptoms: While playing games via steam ( including the two most widely played steam games, Dota2 and CS:GO ) the steam client will randomly crash. The process will completely die and there will be no trace left in the steam client application logs. As a result of steam dying your game will almost instantly end as well. This issue is present in both Steam and steam beta clients.

I hope there is a solution here. Granted this is a free technical preview, but for me it just became a lot less useful.

    I too am getting this issue after the update to build 9879. It's actually annoying that it hasn't been fixed by now.

    Same here. It doesn't crash/freeze if you STOP/DISABLE SteamService.exe from within services.msc, but that messes around with Steam's user authentication process and it only ends up letting you play a couple of matches before locking you out with a "P2P PLAYER AUTHENTICATION" error.

    Please fix already!

    You can also delete steamservice.exe.. But then you cant play css/csgo or tf2 (and other VAC games).

    Essentially this is breaking any game that uses Steam's VAC authentication.

    Including but not limited to:

    Counter-strike: Global Offensive

    Counter-strike: Source

    Counter-strike

    Half life 2 Deathmatch

    Team Fortress 2

    Day of Defeat Source

    Fistful of Frags

    Call of Duty: Modern warfare 2

    Call of Duty: Modern warfare 3

    Dota 2

    many Half life Mods

    many Source mods

    I was playing all of last night and this morning, nothing seemed to happen. Everything was running smoothly without any crashes. I even alt-tabbed out of the game to check e-mails and what have you, so perhaps they secretly fixed?

    Is anyone still having these issues where it consistently crashes?
