Since you are having the same problems as I seen I am guessing you are also downloading to a hard drive which takes alot of hours to update and since Microsoft servers are likely overloaded with everybody trying to download the same thing it is worse at the moment. If you had a ssd it is way faster. You may have to leave your computer on downloading for a whole day the way things are right now. I think mine took something like 6-7 hours to download.

If you look in task manager under App history and at the top of the screen under options make sure that show history for all processes is checked and if you scroll down the list you should have a total MB downloaded that is highlighted with a way larger number under something like Host Process For Windows.

As long as this number continues to get larger if you are not downloading something else you are getting more of the download. This number should stay the same even after you reboot and continue to get larger as the download comes down

I tried downloading Windows 11 to a large partition on my computer that I haven't used for a while because it was so slow to update and the downloading pretty much just stalls out after the 8% glitch so maybe this is your problem.

I even tried the delete download folder trick and didn't help

The successful installations I did were on about 60GB partitions

Thanks for the further reply, but I think we are talking at cross purposes here:

I have a pretty fast NVME drive running windows with enough space, so I don't think that is an issue.

What is actually happening in my case is that the download is not running at all - it is not downloading anything - I have monitored the host process for windows as you suggest but the size does not increase at all which it wouldn.t do if there is nothing coming down.

Think I will have to face the fact that I am not going to be able to install this build of windows 11 - hopefully they will change something to enable me to do so next build. I have tried everything I know to try and get this installed. Tried SFC - no problems found. Tried DISM and that went through ok. I also tried fixing windows update with the repair tool.

I do not know the reason but I am being stymied at every turn by this pesky TPM requirement - this despite MS saying it would be bypassed for these early builds. I am very frustrated here, but it seems I am well and truly stuck - unless someone knows a method?????

I must admit I feel let down by Microsoft - they told us that us insiders could install windows 11 even if we did not have TPM or an 8th gen CPU, but this plainly is not true. I am unable to install - flatly refuses because I don't have TPM. I have a TPM on order, but I think this is a poor show by Microsoft.

My 5960X CPU should be plenty to run windows 11.

Me too. Z97 chipset and intel 4th generation without TPM or secure boot
