The PC has been in the Insider DEV channel for about 2 years. I've been an Insider since 10/01/2014. I'll reboot and try it again tomorrow. It did keep asking me for passwords 3 or 4 times, so maybe something got screwed up doing all that. I've had a busy day today & tomorrow looks busy too, but I'll keep trying as time permits.

    @Eddie,

My non-compliant Dev laptop required a total clean install. Was not aware of the cutoff date at the time clean installing 21390. This device was in Dev channel for atleast 5yrs or more.

Any suggestions, please private message if necessary. Prefer not to use a forced method. It is currently stuck in RP due to the cutoff date. The VMware vm is upgrading from 21390 to 22000.51

    Regards,

    Hi Johnny,

Have you seen this article ? How to download and install Windows 11 Insider builds on unsupported hardware - Neowin

    Regards

    Hi suat.cini,

I tried to follow the procedure on that article, but after I change the registry as suggested and restarted it reverted back to ReleasePreview.

It is almost like the setting is cached in some other place too.

We'll see if Johnny has better success.

I don't really need it for now because my 3 old legacy bios machines where already in Development channel and could do the updates without any problem. Even the old Dell Optiplex 380 updated fine to build 2200.51 from 21390.2025.

Still would be nice to know if there is a way to jump back in if anything happens.

These problems were never fixed, still the same with Windows 11 build 22000.51:

https://aka.ms/AA9pcvv File Explorer hangs while browsing through folders of a mounted ISO that resides in Storage Spaces (Same problem with build 22000.51)

https://aka.ms/AAa4rmm Accessibility (Ease Of Access) PrintScreen Hotkey for Snip&Sketch not working when Device Manager or Advance System Settings or Task Manager are opened in foreground.

https://aka.ms/AAbwjod Right Click > Open With > does not have the option to open with Paint anymore for files without extension. (Build 21354.1+)

https://aka.ms/AAbwet8 Build 22000.51+, mspaint.exe cannot be opened by system

https://aka.ms/AAco4nz Build 22000.51, MS Edge in Internet Explorer Compatibility fails to connect to IP cam, times out.

https://aka.ms/AAd1fye Build 22000.51, Defender turns off after a restart, automatic sample submission is turned off

fg is back with his master list 😀 Great job!

I updated to windows 11 insider dev version. windows 11 taskbar stopped working after changing computer name. The taskbar is blinking like a flash light, I reverted my computer name to the old one but it did not fix.
