    Hi fg,

Watched Sibro's video. Wow. Just not seeing that delay in 2 vm's and 2 laptops on Dev. Only noticeable delay spotted on clean install using Search in Settings for UAC to shut that down. Maybe 5 seconds or so, never timed it. Result is instant in Win10. This one started a few builds back with Win10 Dev and carried over to Win11.

    Regards,

    @Johnny_55, @Sibro.o,

Just to confirm the problem with the delay I just did a clean install of 22000.1 and tried switching back and forth from light to dark and there was no noticeable delay.

I then let W.U. install KB5004564 to get to 22000.51 then tried again the same switching and sure enough the delay was quite visible.

So it went from no delay at all with 22000.1 to about 8 seconds with 22000.51 on the fastest machine I have.

There is definitely a bug that was added with the Cumulative Update of Windows 11 Build 22000.51 that was not in the previous Development builds.

On 2 slower machines I measured the delay for the same operation to about 15 secs or more in some cases.

No Delay visible with Windows 10.

Sounds like inefficient programming ! 😉

    Yes, Hyper-V.

As an aside, I'm planning on turning this into a physical Insider machine & building a new Win11 machine, once 11 is available

Already started the new build. i9 11900K, 64GB CL18 Ram. Appears going to have to plug in my older 1060 video card for now. Love the concept of vertical mounting video card.

No luck finding a 3060 or 3070 Ti card unless one willing to pay 500-1000 over retail. Both Canada computers and best buy show Out of Stock or On Backorder on all 30xx cards. You can get them in bundles, unfortunately they are usually matched with cheaper MB. Frustrating.

Went overboard with new case, with corsair icue lighting, liquid cooled cpu, plus 10 fans to keep things cool. Curious how far past 5.3 GHz can overclock before losing stability.

Drew, have you put any 11th generation together yet for any customers? Been a bit since I built from scratch.

Oh 🤣. I've probably had it set that way or it's by default, for so long 🤣 So busy trying to see what's new or different and here I thought I'd found something. Oh well, at least I'm laughing. Forgive me, I think it's funny. I must make sure something really IS new or different 🤣 They've always been automatic, guess been set that way by default forever, as you say nothing new. I'm looking WAY too hard for stuff 🤣

    Cheers,

Changes back -n-forth for me almost or basically instantly.

Amended: Seems upon more tries, that sometimes there is some delay, but not always.

Just tried it again & no wait or delay, except, this time, for the Settings page itself to go back to Dark, that had a slight lag. All other windows changed (back) right away.

Wow, is Light ever bright❗ Eeeek 😣

    Cheers,
    Drew

Only problem here is the CU will not install and I get an error and a 'try again' message. Basic Windows 11 is here but not the update that I hear adds parts that are missing in initial install.

None of my other Dev builds are installing at all.

Make sure you use Command Prompt (Admin), PowerShell doesn't understand some DISM command lines.
