All I get is a blank translucent page if I click on Widgets. Anyone else have the same experience. Don't really know where the settings for this app are
First time opened after restart, light gray panels will appear briefly, then it goes blank
Hello Vienna,
Confirm the same on test laptop. This device was clean installed. Same thing, light gray blurred panels. Nothing happens keeping it open. Working in virtual machine.
Regards,
@johnny_55, @vienna10,
From what I have tested, this problem with Widgets opening just a translucent blank page, only happens on the 2 older/slowest machines that I have, it tries opening at first and you cane see the 1st screenshot below, but after a few seconds it gets the empty translucent windows on the second screenshot.
Tried on 4 other machines and cannot reproduce this bug.
Edit:
I see some FBH reports saying that it is happening with some Intel Display adapter drivers and may work with older Display drivers.
This suggestion actually fixed my problem on the Dell Optiplex 380, I installed an older version of the driver that I downloaded from Dell support site. Now the Widgets displays correctly.
A) The driver that works on Dell Optiplex 380 is:
Intel G41 Express Chipset, Driver 8.15.10.2182 dated 7/19/2010.
The failing driver was supplied by Microsoft:
Intel G41 Express Chipset (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1) 8.15.10.2702 dated 3/11/2013.
B) I tried to find and older Intel HD Graphics 4000 for the MSI GT70-0NC Laptop, but the older driver did not help the problem on the laptop.
The Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver is 10.18.10.5161 Dated 8/6/2020.
This MSI GT70-0NC laptop has both Intel Integrated Graphics 4000 and NVidia GeForce GTX 670M, with driver 23.21.13.9135, dated 3/23/2018 so I just went the the NVIDIA control panel and changed the settings to use NVIDIA as the preferred GPU.
That solved the Widgets problem on this machine too.
Finally now the Widgets screen is displaying correctly on all my machines. 😉

2 Machines that were showing the problem:
- Dell Optiplex 380 Desktop.
- MSI GT70-0NC Laptop.
1st attempt to open.....
changes to this after a few secs, then it is all you get till next restart
when the same sequence repeats again.
No problems at all with this Dell XPS 8300, or any faster/newer machine:
Display Adapter , AMD Radeon HD 6450, Driver 15.201.1151.1008 Dated 11/4/2015.
