Windows 11 kicked me out of WIP on Windows 11.

Hi all.

Today I went to Settings > ... > Windows Insider Program page.

There I was asked to restart the PC.

After I restarted, I saw that I was left out of the Windows 11 Insider Program.

Now I am asked to install Windows 10 and then rejoin the Windows Insider Program Release Preview Channel.

So I understand now it is just about time to say good-bye to my Insider Colleages on Windows 11.

"I will untick User Session, if that's what you mean."

That's not necessary to untick. It just start VM automatic in Enhanced mode if it's working at all.

It's been 4 - 5 years since I actively use virtual machines with enhance mode so I don't remember all requirements.

One thing that can prevent enhanced mode is using Home edition as quest OS in VM.

"Enhanced session mode isn't available for generation 1 (unless Windows 10 Pro, Education, or Enterprise) virtual machines"

If you look again my screenshot I have enable Enhanced mode under "Server" in Hyper-V settings menu.

Your screenshot show selection under "User" which use enhanced mode automatic, if its enabled on that another setting.

No need to turn any additional features On/Off.

    Hi Pauli,

In my Hyper-V Manager, both Enhanced Session Modes, Server and User, are ticked. I happened to show User Session. I will untick User Session, if that's what you mean.

    Thanks.

Edit: I unchecked User Session Mode but the icon is still grayed out. Maybe this is a quirk of Windows 11 build 22000.176 because I have started to learn Hyper-V under Windows 11 host machine.

My example is from legacy mode Gen1 VM running Windows 10 21H1.

Here is on guide for using enhanced mode.

Using Virtual Machine Connection and the Enhanced Session Mode in Windows Server 2012 R2 (techgenix.com)

    EDIT:

I test with Gen2 VM running Win 11 build 22000.176 (Beta) and Enhanced mode was working OK.

Here drive C: is VM boot disk and second drive is host device D disk.

I don't know why, but for me in one VM enhanced session is greyed out and on one, it works. The one on which it works is a Gen 2 VM, setup from scratch.
