Taskbar Widgets keep closing, won't stay open

I downloaded the full Win 11 ISO today from Microsoft and installed it on my desktop PC (over Win 10 Pro). I had been using my laptop for the Insider Preview Beta. Everything works OK on the Desktop PC install except the Widgets. When I click on the Widgets icon, it flys open and then closes right away. Rebooted a few times, removed and added Widgets from the Taskbar, but it still closes right away.

    I do have a MS Account, and had been on the Win 11 beta (and Win 10 Dev channel before,). All the earlier Beta builds if Win 11 the Widgets worked fine, the issue has been with the last 3 builds (since rtm release). That's why yesterday I was thinking about maybe trying on of the older betas again just to see what happens.

    I do have an account verification email (on my MS ACC web site page) and MS Authentication app on phone I even tested it with my Win 10 Asus laptop, clicked on Verify and it sent it to the Authentication app on the phone. But I do this on my Desktop and nothing happens.

    Each machine needs to be setup with a verification method, just because it works on the laptop doesn't mean that your other machines can be verified the same way unless you specifically set each one up.

    When you login on your MS account Web site you can go through the list of your registered devices and set each one up for the verification method that you want.

    Yes, on my MS Acy page I have 2 different email addresses, cell phone and Authenticate app listed. But see on the PC when I go to the Sync screen and click on the Verify link, nothing opens up.

    Just another confirmation that windows in that machine is screwed up.

    By now you could have tried quite a few clean installs to verify what is different. 😉

    The verify is in Settings -> Accounts -> Your Info...

    Ugh!!! I'd really rather not, because all my programs I have installed and some of them I wouldn't be able to get/find and install again

    So doing a clone from my Win 7 SSD (that I was using up until last year) and going from there to Win 10 to 11, or 11 directly, I'd like to try first.

    Be aware that some if not most of those programs that work on Windows 7 may not work on Windows 11.

    I found out the hard way. I now keep all my W7 programs on a dedicated old x86 laptop
