Taskbar Widgets keep closing, won't stay open

Yeah I spent a out 2 hours trying every "fix I could find making sure the two services were started, disabled windows default firewall and antivirus. No dual boot. Just the main Win 10 drive and the backup SSD (internal sata) connected. After 2 hours and still having the issue, I ended up just doing a Disk Clone over to the other SSD, took about 30 min.

So I've been using Win 10 (upgraded from Win 7) for a few days and was going to try the Win 10 tonight to see if the Widgets are working.

I went to Control Panel, Backup and Restore, and select Create a System Image.

It starts, but then shows the following error (image)

and when going into Event Viewer and looking at VSS it says"

Several entries on the web about those 2 errors showing on your snapshot 0x807800A1 and 0x800423F4...

Don't expect much help from MS, since they deprecated the only backup utility they have. 😒

I still use it regularly even on windows 11 without any issues.

I just make sure that there is enough space on every partition to create the Volume Shadow Copy.

Yeah, I get that. But since my Win 10 was stuck on the last Dev build, I decided to so Win 7 upgrade to Win 10 release build (after WU it's 19043.1288).

Now that I got my apps any everything else updated and working, I can do a backup/clone to another drive and then so a Win 11 upgrade.

I still find it weird that I had this Widget problem to begin with, which I tracked down to my MS Account being listed twice in Windows and causing a conflict.

So it's been 2 days since I was able to get Win 10 (upgrade) installed over Winn7, as it kept failing using the .1288 ISO, but did work using the Windows Media Creation Tool. I think it was build 958 (or 985) that it installed, but then WU for it to the current .1288.

The issue with having my MS Account listed twice is gone/fixed, as it's now just listed once under Settings/Accounts. I was able to do the Verify link and had it send a code to the MS Authentication app on my phone.

So now I'm just getting Win 10 customized back the way I had it. Since it was an upgrade over my (cloned) Win 7 drive image, I had a bunch of programs that needed updating as well.

Once it's running Ok for a few days, I'm going to backup this drive and then try the Win 11 upgrade again to see if it works better and the Widgets issue is fixed since my MS Account info was fixed.

As I said earlier, it would have been quicker to do a clean install of Windows 11 and add all the programs that you need. 😁
