Build 22621.436 and 22622.436 out to Beta Channel Insiders

Perhaps it has to do with my screenshot being from the Windows 10 install. The Windows 11 dev is similar to yours, just the one entry. There is quite a difference in date as well

Mine is the same on both the machine that works and the one that fails, both at build 22622.436.

I have 2 different boxes that crash Photos the same way and both went through all the W.U. updates from the 22621.1 and all the intermediate updates till 22622.436.

The only difference is that the system that works was upgraded directly from 22000.832 to 22622.426 with W/U. without any of the intermediate updates to 22621.1, 22621.105, 22621.160, 22622.290 and finally to 22622.436 like the ones that fail.

I tried update/repair in place with MS BETA ISO and it first came up at 22621.105, at that point Microsoft photos was still working fine. Then W.U. got it up to 22622.436 and that is when the Microsoft Photos App started crashing again. Same bug in 2 boxes. 😜

Windows Insider states the current installed build is 22621.436. My system says the current build installed is 22622.436. I cannot use my dual monitor setup through my Surface Dock. I have a Surface Book 2. How can I fix this?

That's what it looks like for now. 🤬

One of the intermediate updates probably left something in that is causing the bug, but I cannot easily isolate it. 🤷‍♂️

Since update/repair using the official MS 22621 Beta ISO did not fix the problem, I had to use third-party ISO 22622.436 and now Photos App is finally working correctly again, no crashes.

Same solution worked for other 2 boxes.

Update/repair in place with the same ISO showing above fixed also my second desktop. 👌

I tried also on an unsupported device and got it working on that too. 😉

I may keep a backup of the failing one to see if MS comes up with a fix, but for now I'm all good. 😊😊
